Hiking around Nashville: Long Hunter State Park

Long Hunter State Park is located just outside of Nashville in Hermitage, TN. This state park does have a campground, but it's primitive tent camping only. It's a beautiful state park, and we like to walk on the paved walkway around Couchville Lake.

2,600 acres make up Long Hunter, and there are 26 miles of hiking trails that range from 1 mile to 6 miles! If you're bringing your dog, check their website! Some of the hiking trails don't allow pets, or bikes.

J. Percy Priest Lake borders the state park, it's a 14,000 acre reservoir lake! During our hike, we walked the trail around Couchville Lake. It's much much smaller than Percy Priest Lake, but still very pretty.

You can even rent boats here! The prices posted for Summer 2018 are $10/hr for canoes, kayaks, paddleboards, and fishing boats! Just know that no children under 6 years old are allowed to be in the rented boats. The boat rental season is from May to October.

Our boys had a great time on the hike. There's even a playground and ducks to feed!

Happy Hiking!
